Democrat Julie Johnson leading Williams to replace U.S. Rep. Colin Allred

State Rep. Julie Johnson is leading a crowded Democratic primary to replace U.S. Rep. Colin Allred of Dallas late Tuesday. Johnson, D-Farmers Branch, is teetering at 50.44% of the vote. Williams trailing so far with 19%. A run off is triggered if a candidate does not get more than half the votes. Johnson said her “experience made a difference with voters,” including her fight for reproductive rights and against gun violence. “We are in the driver’s seat of this race because women came out to vote,” Johnson told supporters.
