Galveston ISD removes middle school mural depicting Lincoln's assassination after complaint
Galveston ISD removed a middle school mural depicting President Abraham Lincoln's assassination after a complaint from a visitor, according to media reports.
The mural was seen by a visitor to Central Middle School on Tuesday, ABC13 reported. By Wednesday afternoon, the district said the image of John Wilkes Booth shooting Lincoln had been painted over.

"The painting had been previously covered by posters for an extended period of time and was only recently revealed when the posters were removed under the direction of Central's current principal Stephanie Mendoza, who is in her first year of leadership at this campus,” the district told ABC 13 on Wednesday. “The wall will be repainted by the end of the day, permanently removing the art. Galveston Independent School District is committed to providing a safe and nourishing learning environment for its students."
