Dallas’ chief financial officer, Elizabeth Reich, resigns to take undisclosed job
Elizabeth Reich, Dallas’ chief financial officer, is leaving at the end of the month as the city is preparing for its next annual budget.
Reich announced Monday that she is resigning for a job outside of city government, City Manager T.C. Broadnax said in an email to top elected and administrative leaders. She’s been with the city since 2016 and her last day will be June 30.
In her resignation letter to Broadnax, Reich doesn’t say what she’ll be doing next, but says she’s proud of the staff she led, said the city is financially stronger than when she arrived and felt she was leaving the city “in great hands.”
“I am saying goodbye to a great organization, fabulous colleagues and important work,” Reich wrote. “However, I decided to seek out a new challenge that would allow me to continue serving the people of Dallas while continuing to grow professionally.
“I am excited for what is next.”

In addition to the budget department, Reich also oversaw Dallas’ comptroller, data analytics, procurement, risk management and information and technology services offices.
Reich referred to her resignation letter when reached for comment by The Dallas Morning News on Monday.
Broadnax didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. His job is potentially on the line Wednesday as City Council members are scheduled to discuss his job performance. Mayor Eric Johnson is among those calling for him to be fired.
The city is also in the midst of planning for its latest annual spending plan. The City Council is scheduled to hear a briefing on the budget Wednesday and Broadnax plans to issue his recommended budget on Aug. 9.
Jack Ireland, Dallas’ budget and management services director, will replace Reich as the city’s top financial officer, Broadnax said in his email.
