Parents of Camp Mystic victims met with Abbott, Patrick, and Burrows to talk about reforms following Hill Country flooding

During the tearful meetings, the Big Three all said they would act on this and prioritize it above all else in the second special session

The parents of the 27 girls who lost their lives in the devastating flood at Camp Mystic met with Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Speaker Dustin Burrows to push for sweeping reforms to protect kids at youth camps, per a news release.

"Gathering at the Texas Capitol and the Governor’s mansion, the families shared their stories of unimaginable loss and underscored the urgent need for better response and preparedness for future weather events and other risks inherent to youth camps," per the release. We’re told it was a tearful day of the state’s top leadership listening to the stories of the families.
