Veteran Texas House staffer and government affairs pro Mae Beth Palone passed away
Thanks to Steve
Scurlock with the Independent Bankers Association of Texas
for passing along the sad news:
"With a heavy heart, we
report the passing of Mae Beth Palone, who served IBAT faithfully and
well from 1994 until her retirement in 2017. Mae Beth passed away Sunday
morning from injuries sustained in a car accident last week. Mae Beth loved her
family, her hometown of Sweetwater, the State of Texas, the University of Texas
Longhorns and community bankers. She was never more proud than when playing mother hen to the men and women
who led the IBAT Leadership Division. Under her leadership, the LD grew to
almost 600 members and raised countless PAC dollars to support community
banking in Texas.
Mae Beth was feisty and
funny, a gifted writer and a friend of par excellence. We are grateful for her
gifts and her life. We will miss our friend. Details
on arrangements for the celebration of Mae Beth’s life are pending."
For over 20 years, she
worked for Representatives Elmer Martin, Walter Grubbs, Jimmy Mankins,
and Foster Whaley. She culminated her House career as Chief of Staff to Robert
Earley, per her
obituary.
