To prevent the voter confusion of the March primary in Dallas and Georgetown areas, Rep. Bucy offers fix with bipartisan support

Not to be confused with closed primaries, but instead focus is on letting one party force the other to conduct the elections their way

Citing election day chaos resulting from the Dallas and William County GOP to force precinct-level voting in the March primary that resulted in confused voters and a lawsuit that went to the Texas Supreme Court, Rep. John Bucy announced he’ll file legislation next session to let each party decide how they’ll control their primaries.

“This is not about blaming one party or defending another. This is about (not) putting voters in the middle of decisions they don’t control,” said Bucy, the Austin area Democrat. “Voters can be affected by decisions made by the leadership of the opposing party, people they didn’t elect and can’t hold accountable.”
