Republicans spending big in North Texas Senate special election as Patrick and TLR duke it out with Sands

Meantime the Democrat is playing it low key

With just a week to go until election day in the special to succeed acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock, the big bucks are rolling in as a proxy battle plays out for a prized seat in the Texas Senate.

John Huffman and Leigh Wambsganss, the GOP candidates, will have spent more than $2 million by election day with the eventual winner having to again run in the March primary.
