AG Paxton appealing in whistleblower case

Former Paxton employee Blake Brickman, a plaintiff in the case, said:

“The appeal by OAG is the latest example of Ken’s Paxton’s brazen dishonesty and shameless abuse of taxpayer funds for his own personal gain. Last year, Paxton told the Texas Supreme Court that he would not dispute any liability, damages or attorney’s fees involving the Whistleblowers’ case, and that he would waive his right to appeal. It should be clear to everyone now that Paxton lied when he said he did this to save state resources. In fact, he did this because it was the only way he could avoid having to testify under oath. Despite saying he would not appeal, Paxton is now doing exactly that. This appeal has nothing to do with the facts of the Whistleblowers’ claims or how the law applies—it is only to delay the finality of our victory while Paxton runs for higher office.”
