John Bryant on Monday entered the race for Texas House Democratic
Caucus Chairman, challenging Chair Trey Martinez Fischer, by promising
to “protect Democratic priorities in the upcoming session and guarantee
Democratic bills reach the floor.”
Bryant
has, as QR readers are aware, been running for Speaker. He explained
the situation in a lengthy text to House Democratic lawmakers that he was
sending in the afternoon. The caucus is set to elect its leadership Dec 4 –
just days before the Texas House GOP Caucus is scheduled to gather
to endorse a speaker candidate.
