SB: Phelan begins push to court Democrats in his bid to retain the speakership

SAN ANTONIO – Okay, that was awkward.

Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan was in attendance Monday night at the Mexican American Legislative Caucus’ annual gathering when retiring MALC Chair Victoria Neave Criado took to the stage to deliver a bitter rebuke of Phelan’s leadership.
