Kronberg pays tribute to the visionary who founded QR and is slated to be honored this week by another of his visions turned reality The Texas Lyceum
Tieman “Skipper” Dippel created two enduring entities helping shape the future of Texas; it’s in Skipper’s honor that we carry on the tradition, remaining a must-read at the Capitol
Tomorrow, the Texas
Lyceum will be celebrating its 45th birthday by honoring its
visionary founder, Tieman “Skipper Dippel with their Stewardship
of Texas Values Award.
Most Folks at the
Capitol have probably never heard of Skipper Dippel. His bio probably simply
reads “retired CEO of Brenham National Bank.”
But because of
the vision of this small-town Texas banker, the Texas Lyceum has not only endured
but has grown to be the premier organization discovering and recruiting future
leadership of Texas. The lyceum has evolved into a robust educational
opportunity for its membership but perhaps most importantly, it has created a
multi-generational network that has in many ways shape
the state.
And it’s an even
odds bet that most of the Lyceum membership probably does not realize that
without Skipper Dippel there would never have been a Quorum Report.
Folks nearly universally think that I founded QR. But that’s not what happened.
Let me tell you
the story.
