Rumblings ahead of the GOP caucus meeting
Though officially campaigning for Rep. Cook for speaker, Rep. Frank is again telling some GOP colleagues that he is still an option in the race, per multiple Republican House sources
Even
after officially dropping out of the race for speaker and endorsing Rep. David
Cook to hold the gavel, Chairman James Frank is still telling some
of his GOP colleagues that he’s interested in presiding over the Texas House
next session.
That’s
according to multiple Republican sources on Monday.
Though
it may frustrate Little Gov. Dan Patrick, unnamed sources are often the
quickest route to the best attainable version of the truth in Texas government, especially when it comes to a race for speaker.
In such a contest, the conversations of consequence are off the record talks that
occur member to member.
And
once members got back into the groove after the holiday break, rumblings about
what might happen at the upcoming GOP Caucus meeting started to ramp up.
