Following Buffett Capitol visit, bill on automotive industry ownership moves in Texas Senate
Asked if Warren Buffett’s visit was the catalyst, bill author Sen. Hancock says “Nah, I heard that” he was here
One
day after billionaire investor Warren
Buffett visited Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick's office amid questions
about Buffett’s holdings in the automotive industry, the Senate's presiding
officer referred a bill related to "the ownership, control, or operation
of a franchised or nonfranchised dealer or dealership
by certain manufacturers."
The
bill, SB 2279, is authored by Business and Commerce Chairman Sen. Kelly Hancock, R-North Richland Hills.
It’s
a bill that Sen. Hancock was quick to call a “placeholder.”
