HK: House passes Business Court bill with appointed judges potentially causing more problems than it solves

Memo to big business—your cost of doing business in Texas just went up

HB 19 by state Rep Andy Murr was on its way to becoming a legitimate plus for big businesses facing long duration, complicated legal cases.

After laying out the bill, Murr offered a series of perfecting amendments that resolved most of the concerns of the parties involved.

But then, obviously under pressure from Governor Greg Abbott the bill also included the poison pill that makes it more likely that the Governor will have undue influence in these complex business cases.
