Harris County Attorney Menefee demands documents related to audit of 2020 elections announced by Abbott administration

“Governor Abbott and the Secretary of State are telling the public that this ‘audit’ has been going on for months, but this is the first time the County’s heard anything about it…they’re on the news and issuing press releases about this ‘audit’, talking to everyone about it but us.”

In Houston on Tuesday, Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee said he is asking the Texas Secretary of State’s office for documentation related to the “purported ‘forensic audit’ of the November 2020 election in certain counties, including Harris County.”

“Governor Abbott and the Secretary of State are telling the public that this ‘audit’ has been going on for months, but this is the first time the County’s heard anything about it,” Menefee said in a news release. “They’re on the news and issuing press releases about this ‘audit’, talking to everyone about it but us.”

Of course, the SOS announced audits of Harris, Dallas, Collin, and Tarrant Counties last week after former President Donald Trump demanded that Gov. Greg Abbott add an agenda item to the special session related to an audit of the 2020 elections across the state.
