Rep. Villalba, Ryan face off in Dallas debate

Villalba pushes back against opposition to red meat issues, emphasizes bipartisanship and policy

DALLAS –– An early morning debate hosted by the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and League of Women Voters of Dallas today highlighted the Republican primary race pitting Rep. Jason Villalba, R-Dallas against businesswoman Lisa Luby Ryan.

The two agree on many issues.

But the two are decidedly different when it comes to nuts and bolts and Ryan, who is not related to Dallas executive and major Republican donor Brint Ryan, differ on issues when it comes to the red meat. Ryan nailed Villalba repeatedly on hot button issues like guns (she opposes gun restrictions), “sanctuary cities” (she opposes them) and the so-called bathroom bill (she loves it).
