TWIA on track with budget for Hurricane Harvey claims
More than 73,000 claims have been filed with the state’s windstorm insurer of last resort
The Texas
Windstorm Insurance Association claims to continue to be on course for
the anticipated $1.13 billion it has set aside for claims driven by Hurricane
Harvey.
Hurricane season
ends Nov. 30, and this season has been as active as most years on record, with
17 storms, 10 hurricanes and 6 major hurricanes, including Irma and Harvey. In
October, TWIA authorized just over $1 billion for the storm that slammed the
Texas coast and has, to date, paid out $823 million.
