TEA commissioner says he can move money to respond to Harvey
Morath says most testing dates will stay the same; Houston expects a rolling start date for a subset of schools this year
Texas Education
Commissioner Mike Morath
currently expects no particular changes to the state’s
testing and accountability requirements in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
Morath offered a brief update on Harvey
to the State Board of Education this morning. Parents, especially in Houston
Independent School District, which will have a rolling start date for a
subset of schools this year, are lobbying to get rid of testing entirely. Asked
by board members this morning, Morath said most
testing dates are expected to remain the same.
