Texas Right to Life retreats from end-of-life attack in their commercials against Deuell

After their first ad about Senate Bill 303 was pulled, Right to Life comes back with free speech argument

In the hotly contested and potentially very close East Texas Senate runoff race, one of the third-party groups going hard after Sen. Bob Deuell has had to shift up tactics after radio stations dropped ads that were said to be “defamatory.”

Texas Right to Life has argued that Deuell’s unsuccessful push to reform end-of-life care last year under Senate Bill 303 amounted to a “draconian ten-day death panel law,” but they are no longer making that claim on the airwaves.

As QR has reported, attorneys for Deuell’s campaign were successful in having those ads pulled down but Right to Life is back with a new ad that – instead of making claims about death panels – says the incumbent is trying to squelch free speech.
