Patrick’s altercation-driven deposition opens door on his past

Sen.
Dan Patrick, the frontrunner for the
GOP Lite Guv nomination, was on medications "to control a chemical
imbalance” and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in the 1980’s, according
to court documents obtained by Quorum Report and other media
outlets Thursday night.
Testimony
from a trial and two sworn depositions given by Sen. Patrick, who at the time
was still legally named Danny Scott Goeb, tell the tale of a disputed confrontation and
fight in Houston as well as what Patrick’s mental state was during those years.
In
a deposition, Patrick said he had been admitted to a mental health facility
called Spring Shadows Glen for seven to ten days and another hospital
because of "fatigue, exhaustion." Under questioning, Patrick denied
that he was on the verge of a “nervous breakdown,” but did say he was not in
the hospital for alcohol or substance abuse.
