House State Affairs announces witnesses for hearing on dark money
Dark money groups getting a fresh look
We now know who will testify before the House
State Affairs Committee on Thursday as the panel considers what The
Legislature might do in the 2015 session about groups that are active in
politics but do not disclose their donors.
Chairman Byron
Cook, R-Corsicana, has derided so-called “dark money” organizations and said
"the voting public has a right to a complete picture as to who is
influencing elections." He said "Transparency is fundamental to the
democratic process and restoring trust in the integrity of the campaign finance
system.”
