Democrats allege ethics violations by Christi Craddick, her dad, Phil King
‘They make time for money laundering, too,’ says Lone Star Project
A Democrat’s complaint filed with the Texas Ethics Commission
accuses Christi Craddick of colluding
with her father, former House Speaker
Tom Craddick, and Rep. Phil King to
illegally funnel $25,000 into Christi Craddick’s 2012 campaign for the Texas
Railroad Commission.
Craddick, who was elected as one of three Railroad
Commissioners that year, has recently been named head of the Texas
Republican Party 2014 Victory Fund, which some interpret as a bid to
attract female voters to the state GOP.
The complaint, filed by Democrat Betty Richie according to Matt
Angle of the Lone Star Project, alleges that now Rep. Tom Craddick,
R-Midland, reported making a $25,000 contribution to King, R-Weatherford, a
close ally during his tenure as Speaker. Then, King forwarded the money to the Dallas-Fort
Worth Conservative Voters PAC. The political action committee sent the
money to Christi Craddick for her Republican primary runoff against former Rep. Warren Chisum,
R-Pampa.
The rest of the story can be found in the Texas Energy Report.
