HK: MQ SULLIVAN HAS NOT REGISTERED AS LOBBYIST FOR THREE YEARS
Matter referred by Public Integrity to County Attorney
Even some
lawmakers presumed to be sympathetic to Michael Quinn Sullivan’s
politics have told QR that they are surprised
and disturbed by what they describe as his lobby tactics this session. Not only does Sullivan send out regular vote
advisories but in some instances, they report that he begins robo-calling in
districts after votes on amendments but before the final vote on a bill. In particular, they point to the vote on the “cease
and desist” language that Sullivan opposed in the PUC sunset bill and
subsequent robocalls into Republican districts as an example.
It’s one thing
to stake out a position, advise members and score a voting record for an end of
session report card. Many groups do.
But generally
speaking they are all represented by registered lobbyists. That is not the case with Sullivan.
