CROWDED FIELD TAKES SHAPE IN THE RACE TO REPLACE PITTS
Three in the race so far, Ellis County GOP Chair expects more
A “hotly contested” election is expected now that House
Appropriations Chairman Jim
Pitts, R-Waxahachie, has said
he’s not going to seek reelection. Some political observers from that part of Texas said they wouldn’t
be surprised to see as many as six candidates in the race before it’s said and
done.
Ellis County GOP Chairman Dan Davis told QR Tuesday morning there are at
least three Republicans already interested in winning House District 10.
Businessman T.J. Fabby
– who previously challenged Pitts as the Tea Party candidate – has already said
he’s in the race. Davis said the other two are
former Midlothian ISD School
Board Member Duke Burge and retiree Jim Parker. All of these men were
interested in the seat prior to Pitts’ retirement announcement, Davis said.
