CHAIRMAN HILDERBRAN SAYS COMBS' ESTIMATES COULD LEAD TO SUBSTANTIAL TAX CUTS
Still analyzing, but optimistic both business and property taxpayers could benefit
House
Ways and Means Chairman Harvey Hilderbran
(R-Kerrville)has been working on developing tweaks and
reforms to remedy some unintended inequities in the Margins Tax throughout the
interim. Today he told QR that Comptroller Susan Combs’ revenue estimates makes him think that not only
will the Legislature be able to cover all its deferrals and lose ends from the
last session, but that there will be money left over.
“We
are likely to have a $7 billion supplemental,” Hilderbran
said. “It’s not only doable, it’s
probable.”
