While Abbott and Patrick call for immediate repricing of $16 billion in ERCOT charges, Speaker Phelan seeks a deliberative approach

After Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and a bipartisan group of senators called on the PUC and ERCOT to immediately recalculate $16 billion in “overcharges” during the Texas ice storm – and Gov. Greg Abbott designated the issue an emergency item – Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan made clear Wednesday evening that a more deliberative process needs unfold.
