HK: What were they thinking?
Intoxicated by 2018 mid-term elections, Dems stumble into unforced errors puncturing the sense of inevitability that they would take the Texas House; the lobby does and should honor friendly incumbents but are now caught in a crossfire
In perhaps one of the
worst strategic errors thus far in an early cycle, Texas Democrats prematurely
punctured their own balloon.
Until this past week, Texas
House Republicans were nearly universally despondent. Bereft of a
speaker to lead the charge and fight off what was potentially a Democratic
wave, tepid in their fundraising and forced to defend a President whose
popularity seemed confined to primary voters and activists in their base, they
saw a very possible Democratic majority in their future.
Then, the House Democrats gave
the GOP a gift.
