Texas House Democrats across the state today
demanded Gov. Greg Abbott call a special legislative session to address
gun violence after two mass shootings in Texas claimed the lives of 30 people
and injured dozens more.
Members of the
Dallas-Fort Worth, Central Texas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio delegations
were joined by allies at news conferences laying out their agenda for
protecting Texans from further shootings.
They were quickly rebuffed
by Gov. Abbott, whose office said the Democrats should
work with their colleagues to build consensus before asking for a called
