Sexual assault advocates highlight almost two dozen bipartisan bills this session
Texas remains one of six states that has not escalated penalties for assaults that fall short of rape but are sexually related
The agenda of sexual-assault survivors comes into this
session with a momentum Sen. Kirk Watson,
D-Austin, credits to the brave voices of the survivors themselves.
Watson was joined by lawmakers, District Attorney Margaret Moore and a trio of
college-aged sexual assault survivors who talked articulately, and
passionately, about the need to create the reporting and infrastructure that
can provide assault victims options.
