People on the Move
Reorganizing in the Office of the Governor, agency changes, lobby moves, and more
SAN ANTONIO – “Somebody
call Scott Braddock.”
Those were apparently the
words uttered by a top staffer in Texas state government at the conclusion of a
tearful farewell speech as that person transitioned from their current job and
prepares for a new life in the private sector. The comment drew laughter, I’m
told. Honestly, you could not ask for better marketing than that for POTM.
Writing to you from The
Alamo City today, where the candidates to lead the Republican Party of
Texas, incumbent James Dickey and former Congressman Allen
West, are set to debate this morning. I love a chairman’s race, having
covered them all the way back to when Tina Benkiser
ran the RPT. Democrats, of course, have their own drama and purity tests. But few
things in this state’s politics are more enjoyable to me than an RPT chairman’s
race.
We’ll see how this
unfolds.
Meantime, there were some
substantial changes in the careers of combatants at the Capitol
and that’s what Fridays are (generally) all about at Quorum Report.
Never hesitate to let me know where you’re headed. You can also pass along news
concerning others. We can’t be accused of being a gossip rag if you don’t. Let
me know what’s up at ksbraddock@gmail.com
and use “POTM” in the subject line. That way, it’s less likely to be lost in
the shuffle of my inbox.
