KR: Big three praise school finance reform but omit metrics to determine effective use of increased dollars
We can put more dollars into education. But if we can’t also remove it – understanding whether it worked, if it’s a problem of spending or concept – we can never move forward
The Big Three had nothing but praise this morning for a
school finance bill that will funnel more than $11.5 billion toward property
tax reduction and school finance reform.
“This is a labor of love, but a long-term labor that came
to fruition this session,” Gov. Greg
Abbott said at the signing of House Bill 3 this morning in Austin,
surrounding by lawmakers. “This is something that we’ve been working on for
years, and it just so happened that everything was able to come together this
particular year.”
