Texas lawmakers to get pay raise in the new year
Over the last decade, the commission has consistently proposed to increase the per diem, but the Legislature has mostly opposed the hikes
The
Texas
Ethics Commission on Friday approved an increase to the legislative per
diem from $190 to $221, a 16 percent boost that will cost taxpayers an
additional $650,000 through the regular session.
It
marks the second hike to the daily stipend for lawmakers' living expenses since
2015, though this one came without the consent blessing of House and Senate
leadership.
