House Appropriations Committee Chairman
Rep. John Zerwas, R-Richmond, told health care
leaders and advocates this afternoon he had no doubt Hurricane Harvey
relief would require Rainy Day Fund expenditures. But it would not require returning lawmakers to Austin for
a special session, he said.
“When
we come back in January, and we have to balance up
this budget, it’s going to be a sizable number,” Zerwas
said at a luncheon panel for the State of Reform in Health Care Policy.
“The governor has said, and I think the lieutenant governor has said, the only
place you get from is going to be the Rainy Day Fund.”
