Updated: Texas Auto dealers and manufacturers trade barbs with Tesla over direct sales legislation
The legislation would “undermine long-standing business investments” the groups said; Tesla says “This is a free market, economic progress and consumer choice issue”
In
what could be a significant move, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers
and Texas
Automobile Dealers Association on Monday issued a joint statement
opposing direct sales of automobiles from manufacturer to consumer.
The
legislation, which would of course benefit Tesla, would “undermine
long-standing business investments” in this state, the groups said.
