Sunset Commission issues final results of agency reviews
Roughly 80 percent of 252 recommendations were passed across 17 bills in the regular session
though lawmakers failed to pass an overhaul of the Texas Medical Board
during the recent session, they did put away the seemingly never-ending review
of the Texas Department of Transportation and devoted significant
cross-agency efforts to curb prescription drug abuse.
Commission’s final report on this cycle of recommendations
suggested almost $6 million in savings over the next five years from the
actions taken by lawmakers in the most recent session.
