New study from San Antonio shows more than $411 million economic impact from SB 6, other bills
Perryman Group study shows big losses to the SA regional economy
A study released today by Visit San Antonio and the
San
Antonio Tourism Council estimates the city’s region would take an
economic hit if legislation targeting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender community becomes law in Texas.
If a bill like Senate Bill 6, the so-called
bathroom bill passes, the San Antonio tourism and hospitality industry could
lose up to $411.8 million annually, along with the elimination of 4,650 jobs,
according to a study by Waco-based Perryman Group. The group led by Ray Perryman, of course, often assesses
the economic impact of regulatory changes, public policy initiatives and
several other areas.
