Coalition calls for easing process of candidates qualifying for the ballot in Texas

“It is hard to imagine that our current political polarization will change without a more open process that embraces a greater variety of voter choice”

Texans for Voters Choice – a new coalition calling for “freedom of choice at the polls” – is pushing for lawmakers to pass House Bill 3068, deemed the Texas Voter Choice Act.

The legislation, authored by Rep. Ron Reynolds, D- Missouri City, would change the number of petition signatures required when running for statewide office to 10,000, charges the secretary of state with creating an internet portal system for voters to sign nomination petitions and eliminates certain filing requirements.
