Clock is ticking on massive consolidation of HHSC agencies
When this second phase is over, 24,000 employees and more than 100 programs will be merged into a 40,000-employee HHSC
The
size of the Health and Human Services Commission will more than double on
Sept. 1, as the agency continues the consolidation begun with Senate
Bill 200 in 2015.
Executive
Commissioner Charles Smith has
assembled a crisis team for what will be the largest state agency overhaul in
decades.
